Qatar has paid hundreds of millions for the 2022 World Cup. FIFA and the host country already had an agreement, v & oacute; & oacute; r that the tournament was officially assigned.

The Sunday Times reports that Qatar's Al-Jazeera made a payment to FIFA of EUR 356 million three weeks before the allocation. This was the first part of the payment in 2010.

The second part was paid by Qatar in 2014. The wealthy host country paid EUR  427 million for the World Cup television rights in 2026 and 2030. The English newspaper does not believe this and claims it was an additional transfer to secure the World Championship.

In a response, FIFA states that the allocation has already been extensively investigated in the past, and that there is nothing to hide from the authorities.
